New York, NY — Harbor Picture Company, the New York-based, full-service post-production and production company behind some of the most celebrated work in the film, television and commercial spaces, today announced that it has hired 20-year industry veteran Corey Stewart as Chief Technology Officer. Stewart will report directly to Harbor founder and President Zak Tucker and will help the company fulfill its commitment to technological advancement and promise to continue to evolve as a platform for artistry and technology.
“The reality of our new landscape of anywhere, anytime, any artist, has demanded that we continue to seek out new technologies and technologists to facilitate the type of unlimited access to creativity clients are in search of,” said Tucker. “Corey was the perfect candidate for this new position because he shares our vision and holistic approach to post; providing omnipresent support to clients, everywhere from on set to the point of delivery. The creative benefit of this type of seamless workflow is the collaboration fostered between picture and sound, and it’s only made possible by the types of technological advancements and workflows industry vets like Corey are implementing and innovating.”
Stewart joins Harbor from Technicolor PostWorks New York, where he had served as Chief Engineer since 2008. During that time he designed and managed integration of a large scale routing control system based on Pro-Bel and NVision routers, created a KVM switching infrastructure to increase room flexibility & production, and managed engineering teams during acquisitions and management changes. Prior to his role as Chief Engineer, Stewart was instrumental in building the company during its beginning years as On-line Editor, AVID Support Technician, and Lead Engineer. Earlier on in his career, Stewart attended the School of Visual Arts in New York where he studied film and video with an editorial concentration, taught film production classes, and worked as an After Effects Designer & Assistant Editor at Harvey’s Place. He has been credited as Digital Intermediate Engineer for numerous feature films & television shows and has closely worked with A-list editors, colorists, cinematographers, and directors. He is also a member of the Hollywood Professional Association, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, Digital Cinema Technology and more.
“I’ve watched Harbor take the New York post industry by storm from afar over the past 6 years, and have admired the bold moves Zak and team are taking to raise the bar for all of us,” said Stewart. “The deciding factor for me on making the move to Harbor was the company’s unparalleled commitment to advancing the technologies, workflows, and cross-discipline support it offers its clients and artists. There’s a real opportunity here to pioneer a more innovative type of post.”
Stewart’s hire comes at a time of immense growth at Harbor, both from new business and existing clientele. Most recently, the company worked on projects including Arrival, Beauty and the Beast, and Showtime’s Billions. Harbor also launched Harbor Grand in August of 2015, a multi-million-dollar studio servicing audio mixing for tentpole theatrical projects, complete with the largest theatrical mix stage in New York. With seating for 60, the stage has a 28′ screen, 26′ ceiling height and 60′ throw, and is equipped with Dolby ATMOS, IMAX, 7.1 and Euphonix System 5 & 6.Stewart, together with Avi Laniado, Harbor’s Chief Engineer and a 30 year veteran in mixing engineering support, will work together to augment and strengthen the company’s technology expertise and flexible, nimble structure to meet the increasingly complex needs of both clients and visiting artists.
